How to Make Art to Give as Gifts

Painting in my sister-in-law's kitchen while she and I chat has been one of my favorite memories of creating a gift. I was painting a beach scene for her dad. It was mesmerizing for her to watch me paint, and fun for me to talk while my hands were occupied. 

Plus then I got to give him an epic birthday gift. 

I've had many moments of painting a gift for someone while visiting them. Invariably someone will want to sit and watch me as I work. We usually have different conversations this way. I am quiet, listening, yet painting and in the zone. They get to watch me and talk without interruption. Sometimes they do want to ask me questions, and that is fun too.
