When painting, I often find I'm mending and patching, until the blanket below becomes a unique quilt.

My little sister had a blankie growing up that was basically an extension of her body. My grandmother mended it for her many times.

If that becomes a thing with my daughter, I will likely add on pink and orange and green until it looks like this.

• White paint can sometimes be such a tease, leaving just a little bit below the surface.

• This one also works on its side as a horizontal painting.

• Hang it in a place where it can delight the you that was once a child.
